FAQ
Our world-class support starts here: How can we help?
How can we help? How does the WordPress customer support plugin work?
CS Support is a plugin which you can install on any WordPress website – either as a standalone website or intranet, or as part of your wider company website.
It adds a ‘Support Tickets’ section to the WordPress admin area. Ticket management is easy – you can add tickets manually, or users can submit them via a front-end form. You can also import tickets in bulk via CSV or integrate with third-party platforms for automated ticket creation.
Tickets are stored securely within your WordPress database. You can manage them directly in the WordPress admin or allow users to submit and track tickets via a front-end portal. CS Support offers a customizable, searchable, and filterable ticket dashboard that can be displayed as a table or grid layout.
For full details, read our tutorial on how to create a customer support system in WordPress.
What information can I show in the support ticket system?
CS Support is better than a basic WordPress contact form because it lets you store and manage detailed information about each support ticket. This gives you complete flexibility.
You can include any or all of the following fields in your support ticket system:
Ticket title
Customer name
Email address
Ticket description (which can include text, images, or file attachments)
Date (both the submission and last updated date)
Assigned agent
Ticket categories
Ticket tags
Ticket status (Open, In Progress, Resolved)
Priority level (Low, Medium, High)
Ticket ID (generated automatically)
Attachment details (generated automatically)
And if that’s not enough, you can add extra fields too! CS Support has a feature to add your own custom fields, and you can add more advanced fields and taxonomies with our free Easy Post Types and Fields plugin.
Once you have added the data, you can choose which information to display in your support ticket system.
What file types can I attach to support tickets?
CS Support allows customers to attach any file type to their support tickets, including PDFs, images, videos, documents, and more.
When storing attachments in the WordPress Media Library, you can use any file type supported by your WordPress installation. For external storage, such as Dropbox or Google Drive, you can link to any file type with no limitations.
The most common file types used with CS Support are PDFs and images for troubleshooting. We have a tutorial on how to manage file attachments in a WordPress ticketing system.
Ticket attachments can be previewed in certain cases. If the preview option is enabled and the file type is unsupported, the preview will not appear, but users can still download the file.
Does it support audio and video attachments?
Can I store ticket attachments away from my WordPress website?
Yes – there are two ways to store ticket attachments:
In the WordPress Media Library.
On any third-party platform (e.g., Dropbox, Amazon S3, Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.).
To use third-party attachments, simply select the ‘File URL’ option and enter the URL of the file location. The download links in the ticket system will point to this URL.
You can also sync CS Support with third-party platforms automatically via automation platforms like Zapier. We’ve provided instructions to help with this.
Can I create a private support ticket system?
By default, the support ticket system is public and accessible to all website visitors who can submit tickets.
You can restrict access to some or all tickets. For example, you can use CS Support with our Password Protected Categories plugin to limit access to specific ticket categories. Restrict categories so only specific users, roles, or those with a password can view tickets. When users visit the ticket portal, they will only see tickets they have access to.
For broader restricted access, you can integrate CS Support with any WordPress membership plugin that supports custom post types, such as MemberPress.
